Inward Looking Head

Instead of looking outward look inward to find
The answers to your questions. When you look outside
Of yourself then control and manipulation
Enter the picture. How is looking inward done?
Is there some kind of process that can be applied
To look inward? What if one is not so inclined?

What you want to create is authentic power.
Looking inward accomplishes that easily.
It’s not difficult and there’s no special technique
To follow. If it’s answers to questions you seek
Then just go there. Your focus is necessary
For ideas planted to begin to flower.

There are two worlds – the outer world and the inner.
What happens on the inside is more important
Than the external drama. The world you perceive
With you physical senses will make you believe
In its absolute reality and you can’t
Shake that notion. The mind must completely concur.

Multi-sensory beings we’re all becoming.
The soul wants harmony and cooperation.
In a world ruled by external power we can
Find the time to look inward. This is the best plan
To be focused on for your soul’s evolution.
Shifting your attention inward means everything.

Just Plain Free

A professor one evening had a meeting for
Some of his former students to see how they were
Doing out in the real world. He wanted to see
How much they had succeeded at being happy.
Are they all living the life that they would prefer?
All about their lives now he wanted to know more.

They each told him their stories. “I’m not doing well.
I can’t get that promotion. The harder I try
To achieve what I’m after, the more I’m let down.
I get through my days typically with a frown.
Sometimes while I’m at work I could break down and cry.”
Not a single one had a good story to tell.

So the professor said, “You all seem to be stressed.”
He provided them coffee and several cups
To choose from. Some were plain and some were elegant.
What he said to them next was very important.
Knowing that stress has to do with mental hangups,
It was a bit of wisdom he clearly expressed.

“You all picked the nice looking cups leaving behind
The plain looking ones, but the cup gives no value
To the coffee it’s holding. You want the coffee –
Not the cup. If you want to be truly happy
Care about what’s of value. The more that you do
Then the more success and happiness you will find.”

We Are Not Separate

Despite Color Of Insulation

“I am he as you are he as you are me and
We are all together…,” as the old wise song goes.
If I am I because you are you, and you are
You because I am I, then both of us are far
From who either is. This logic most clearly shows
Separateness is folly. Why isn’t it banned?

We know who we are in terms of other people.
Interdependent systems, we do not exist
Without all others present. We each interact
With what is our environment, and our impact
Is an issue not inconveniently dismissed
By the few who are given too much damned control.

What I call the external world is just as much
My own body. My skin is but a bridge through which
The external flows back and forth just as the tide.
In the peace of connectedness I must reside.
Knowledge made useful is intended to enrich
Every part of me that has grown cold to the touch.

We’ve not been taught to feel this. Our culture demands
That we feel only some parts and ignore others.
It is driving us crazy as one whole species.
On the brink of extinction, we live our disease.
Intervention by our daughters and our mothers
Is the hope that the most of us well understands.
