Don’t Worry About What Others Think

Insecure

People spend most of their lives in gut wrenching fear
Of what others may think of them. They lie awake
At night wondering how they would cope without the
Approval of others, and they obsessively
Change their image when they find the slightest mistake.
They can’t get satisfaction from how they appear.

To the verdicts of strangers we all surrender
Our freedom to fail gracefully. Those we don’t know
And don’t even like all that much we cater to.
Even though we don’t like being told what to do,
We do it without thinking. It causes us woe.
We play the role of the malignant pretender.

Don’t complain. Don’t explain yourself to anyone.
“Become independent of the good opinion
Of other people.”
Trust yourself. You and only

You know the enlightened one you were meant to be.
Don’t let other people’s judgments have dominion
Over how you feel. Then awareness has begun.

When we really mess up, almost no one will be
Looking or caring very much. They’re too involved
With their own issues. Our disgrace will be subsumed
Into social amnesia, so we’re never doomed
By unwanted attention. One who is evolved
Is above that kind of negative energy.

The Peace Of Familiar Surroundings

At Home At Home

You remember the good times as well as the bad,
And these memories influence choices made now.
You prefer the safety of familiar places
With your loved ones and all that your heart embraces.
Triumphs over your worst fears and troubles allow
Changes real to occur. You’re a noble comrade.

Courage, caring, commitment, and will-power are
Your most outstanding qualities. Protective of
Others in your surroundings, you are nurturing,
And the friendships you make are warm and enduring.
Everything that moves you is an effort of love.
In the ultimate search, no distance is too far.

Pessimistic you may seem. Loss never fits well,
But your determination to find what remains
Demonstrates dedication toward moving ahead
To the task in defiance of pain and bloodshed.
Letting go of the past will ensure you great gains.
You know you needn’t worry. In sureness you dwell.

Tragic are the conditions that change one’s life path
And the whole personality to the degree
That it’s turned inside out. ‘Funny,’ though you are teased,
You are good-natured enough not to be displeased.
Treacherous is the journey that will set you free
From your innermost nightmare and life’s aftermath.

The Tragedy In Comedy

The Dichotomy of Drama

Charlie Chaplain, the master of simple laughter,
Did portray the ridiculous with certain style.
Audiences laughed with him because they’d relate
To calamitous circumstance fettered by fate.
Yet in personal life, this man rarely did smile.
Tragic was his existence as life did occur.

He would have no one know that if he had his way.
What he did was turn sorrow into a fine gift.
With immutable purpose and passionate drive,
Nothing but the most humorous he would derive
From his own purgatory to bless and uplift
Everyone. He’s an artform even to this day.

Why is there seeming difference… laughter and pain…
All those pairs that make living a perilous ride
On a cruel roller coaster for just a brief while?
Nature is made of opposites – neither hostile
Nor in love with each other. They work side by side.
Life is bound by the physical but not in vain.

Dealing with all the up and down and black and white
Gives experience color. We know not the good
Until we behold evil. We strive to connect
To something not a part of us. The intellect
Sees danger in dichotomy. Perhaps it should.
But the spirit sees union instead of a fight.

Powerless

TheMagicRealist.com

Some cheap-suited-assed bank pawn behind a small desk
Who is one third my age has the nerve to treat me
Like the club I belong to is not worth the time.
Thanks for giving me something to process. Since I’m
To be rendered nonthreatening, then I can be
Free to curse you in ways that are truely grotesque.

One would think that your mamma knows well how you work
Like an indentured maggot. That makes her a fly
With no sense of a conscience for what it has laid.
The dried snot up your nose gives away the charade.
You are more worthless than this verse, yet I will try
To get through to the meaning and not to the jerk.

So, I’m made to feel powerless. Ain’t life a bitch!
I cannot slap the piss from your arrogant face.
Nor can I disrespect you in any damned way.
Pray that our paths don’t co-mingle on your off day.
The McJob you think highly of is a disgrace.
Your engaging their power will not make you rich.
