A Fast And Powerful Prayer

Those who claim that they’re not insane probably are
And vice versa. Those who think that they’re of ill mind
Really aren’t. There’s a middle ground where I reside.
My own character defects no more can I hide
From myself nor all others. I’m no longer blind
To the sins I’ve committed. It feels most bizarre.

“You’re busted, disgusted, and not to be trusted,”
Says the blue book about me and my drunkenness
And because of my neediness I’m a tough nut
To be cracked. I’m reminded that I don’t know what
The hell I’m doing most of the time. I confess
That my bad attitude needs to be adjusted.

Once a Jesuit priest named Father Joe Riley
Gave an answer to the question, “What’s the shortest
Most powerful prayer in the world?” He replied,
“That would be, ‘Fuck It!’” meaning don’t worry your hide
Over small stuff. His answer succinctly expressed
Is effective. It may be the best thing for me.

In an instant the weight of the world is lifted
From my shoulders as I pray for total release
Of the things I can’t handle. I’m able to see
What I’ve done with my life quite a bit more clearly.
The surrender contributes to my inner peace
As the whole of my mindset has now been shifted.

Thy Will Be done

In my doing I want to be fully aligned
With the One who created me. I don’t want to
Be a slave to my ego. I want to transcend
Far beyond it. My spirit would most recommend
That I give up the struggle and alter the view
That I have of my life. Peace of mind I will find.

I can say that I’m almost there. I’m not waiting
To collect a huge fortune or net some outcome
In the world that shows favor to me in some way.
Things are going well. I’m close. I cannot betray
My wellbeing. I don’t want to drift away from
My alignment. I treasure what I’m creating.

I surrender my ego to that which made me.
The relief I find in this is truly profound.
It’s the safest prayer and it’s the only one
To be prayed. I pray that the will of God be done
Here on earth. May the peace of the Maker abound.
From the will of humanity let me be free.

When I pray, “Thy Will Be Done,” I alleviate
The angst in my intention. I leave it up to
God to handle. I’m headed in the direction
Of salvation and wholesome interconnection
With the world as my spirit guides all that I do.
May I be a tool that God uses to create.

Ask For The Miracle

Wanting something so badly that I find the need
To pray strongly, I know that a strong resistance
I’m creating. It doesn’t help me reach my goal.
I can feel what I want from the depths of my soul.
If the feeling is negative then there’s no chance
Of a blessing. I cannot make doubting my creed.

God’s the same yesterday, today, and forever.
With a miracle working God who’s able to
Do more than I could ever imagine, all things
Are possible. The reason my happy heart sings
Is because I’ve adopted this clear point of view.
My relationship with God I cannot sever.

What seems impossible to me is within the
Power of God to understand. When I can’t think
Of an answer God gives it to me right away.
Let the miracle take place in my life today.
Give me guidance when I seem to be on the brink
Of disaster. Let happiness come unto me.

Help me make my decisions in full clarity
Of the role God would have me play. Protect me from
My own selfish behavior. Let me see the light
In the wrong that I’ve done so that I’ll make it right.
Let the day have a richly meaningful outcome.
May the peace of God’s presence descend upon me.

Peace Of Mind

Marvelous and magnificent, the human brain
Can become fettered with anger and jealousy.
The balance of warmheartedness is essential
To its healthy performance. Then everything shall
Become as peaceful as it could possibly be.
Otherwise, the imbalance may drive one insane.

Negative emotions stem from self-centeredness.
Instead of bringing happiness and peace, they bring
Only problems. War is part of humanity.
As a species, we are a natural pity.
Can there be something done to reverse this whole thing?
Issues of our behavior we could well address.

Along with physical hygiene we need to teach
Children to cultivate emotional hygiene
So they can learn how to tackle their destructive
Emotions and have Peace Of Mind. This way to live,
For oneself and the planet, is wholesome and clean.
Believing in salvation is not a far reach.

People who have an altruistic attitude
Are much happier, healthier, and more at peace.
Scientists say that anger will lead to disease.
It would behoove the whole world to finally seize
Logical information. World anger may cease.
For thought, this is especially important food.

Be Prepared For The Blessing

When in need of a blessing it is absolute.
While in tough situations where I see no way
To resolve them my desperation hinders me.
The divine never intended myself to be
So confused and unable to dash the dismay
That the soul in its darkness just cannot transmute.

To prepare for what’s coming, empty I must be
Of myself so that divinity can then fill
Me with itself completely. I’ll get in the way
Of the things that I want. If I could only stay
In a state of receiving not by force of will
Then all things that I’ve wanted are waiting for me.

I must bow in obedience to the divine
Who knows much more than I do with a larger view
Of the image I can’t see quite clearly enough.
What is gigantic for me is pretty small stuff
To one who caused the big bang and nothingness too.
Faith is the firm believing that everything’s fine.

I must learn to be patient while doing my part
Which is maintaining focus and staying aligned
To the guidance I’m given intuitively.
Loaves of bread and fish can multiply easily
With a faith more fantastic and blessing inclined.
Faith is not such a mystery. It’s of the heart.
