Whatever You Want

Once upon a time there was a monk who used to
Shout at people while sitting by the river bank.
“Whatever you want, you will get,” he’d loudly say
To passersby. This is all he did all damned day.
No one bothered to listen to him or to thank
Him for his most kind blessing to not just a few.

People thought that the old monk was wise but insane.
They ignored him completely except for one day
When a young man approached him and asked, “Is this true
That whatever I want I will get? And are you
Able to give it to me? What price must I pay?
What can I do to realize maximum gain?”

“I can give you want you want,” the old monk replied,
“You just have to become me, but first tell me what
It is that you want.” “…To become a rich person,”
Said the young man. The old monk saw that he was one
Who was ready. He saw that his mind was not shut
To the wisdom offered him. The man was wide eyed.

“Time and Patience are the most precious gems there are
In the world. Never waste your time on foolishness.
No one is stronger than time, and there is no wealth
Greater than our patience which ensures our good health.”
The man went on to experience great success.
Everyone knows an old monk who’s not very far.

Cats As Vibrational Healers

They can help us be spiritual, people say
About cats because of their keen sense of the Tao.
They see things that are invisible to our eyes.
Vibrating on their level one can become wise
In the ways of relaxing. They can teach one how
To keep balanced the functions of sleep, work, and play.

You may learn to peer into other dimensions
By communicating on a psychic level
With the fine furry guru who has chosen you
As a viable student. They can help you through
Situations of stress that often bedevil
Your wellbeing and spirit with bad intentions.

Throughout history cats have been seen as creatures
With connection to spirit. Used in rituals
For achieving enlightenment, cats were revered.
Nowadays the idea is still not too weird.
When you feel that life has gotten you by the balls
Energy of the life force of your cat endures.

At a frequency close to the earth’s they vibrate.
Their connection to this world and that of spirit
Can be seen, for example, in that they can purr.
Tidiness and good exercise they most prefer
To the everyday hustle. They’re the perfect fit
For the soul wanting friendship and the alpha state.

Mastery As A Child

So called primitive cultures are wise in the ways
Of magnificent artwork. The crafting of things
Is a thing that is passed down from father to son
Or from mother to daughter. The child is the one
Who will find fascination while under the wings
Of the masterful teacher who’s given much praise.

Here a very special relationship is made
Between elder and younger. They form a strong bond
That will last throughout their lives. Each productive day
Is infused with their passion in every good way.
It’s the kind of connection that goes far beyond
The commitment to friendship most clearly displayed.

What occurs now among nations not very old
Is a kind of a schism. Most children don’t know
What their fathers are doing when they go away.
It has something to do with their bringing home pay.
But beyond that there’s no way for the child to grow
There’s no time for that relationship to unfold.

One dad’s money is no different than others’
Except that everyone wants infinitely more.
Schooling prepares the novice for uncertainty.
That’s why we go for plastic mediocracy.
Children are best when given the room to explore
If they show not an interest in what is yours.

The Laughing Heart

Your life is your own life. Be as bright as can be
And as light as the feather that tickles the soul.
Do not let it be clubbed into dank submission.
Be always on the watch. There are ways to have fun
As there always are ways out of life’s rigmarole.
Yes, there is a light somewhere. It’s for you to see.

Though the light is not brilliant, it beats the darkness
By infinity’s measure. So, be on the watch.
The gods will offer you many chances. Know Them.
You must be of the right heart. You may not condemn.
If you do it may leave an indelible splotch
On the memory of your life in the process.

You can’t beat death, but sometimes you can do just that
Through the life you are living. And the more often
You choose to learn to do it, more light there will be.
Your life is your life fully and absolutely.
Never mind about where in the past it has been.
That would mean that your heart has to wear a hard hat.

Know your life while you have it. You are marvelous.
The gods wait to delight in you wholeheartedly.
Your expressing of joy is their confirmation
Of their masterful work which has only begun.
It’s your life. Live with laughter that people may see
That your angelic presence is always a plus.

Wisdom Of Youth

We adults think we know everything to be known
And that only from us should our children be taught.
We take not this approach with our vegetables.
They don’t need any training. Nature enables
Youthful living creatures to receive what is sought.
We can learn things from children if not ego prone.

Wisdom doesn’t come from us and then trickle down
To the newest arrivals. It’s drawn from below.
As it makes its way upward through society,
What is no longer working can be completely
Overhauled or discarded. The seed we do sow
Knows of its royal essence while reaching the crown.

Our young collect pebbles, colored shiny objects,
And all sorts of things trivial to you and me.
But they are the most precious things to a young one.
They know not how to play our game. It isn’t fun
Because it’s one of power which they don’t yet see
As worthwhile and of value in certain aspects.

And we must educate them and teach them values
So that they learn the real game to play it to win.
But the game, when it’s mastered, brings on but the truth
That they had while of innocence back in their youth.
Feeling no satisfaction they suffer chagrin
Having fallen for learning the best ways to lose.

Older folk have their purpose. It’s to become wise
In the ways of experience. We learn to teach.
There’s no way to the kingdom of heaven unless
We become like children. If we can acquiesce
To the wisdom of freshness in time, we may reach
A sublime evolution as brilliant youth rise.

An Incredible Thing

Children can be unruly without lots of space
Free of smoke and pollution and filled with bright light.
They can tell us what’s good for them. We could well learn
By means of trial and error. We needn’t be stern
In supporting their learning. Their keen appetite
For what life has to offer is our saving grace.

We consider the child who is troubled somehow.
Perhaps he has been orphaned and lives with some folks
Who are not well prepared to look after his needs.
He may act out in turn with unsociable deeds.
With disruptive behavior, the need is to coax
What is hurt in the child’s heart so love he’ll allow.

Gentle handling with a sense of warm loving care
And perhaps yoga practice in some simple form
Will do much to transform children who’ve gone astray.
We are best in supporting our children this way.
Would society flourish if this were the norm?
Our children are as healthy as we are aware.
