Integrity

Cosmic Connectivity

Integrity is the quality of having
Strong ethical or moral principles. It means
Following them at all times. It’s a positive
Character trait. It is a wholesome way to live.
It would be nice if it were a part of our genes.
It can be nothing but a most wonderful thing.

It is the bedrock upon which good character
Is built, where one understands, accepts, and chooses
To live in accordance with one’s own principles.
Life is made tolerable with loving spoonfuls
Of refreshing integrity. One excuses
Limitations of others as they may occur.

Choose the positive instead of the negative.
To treat others as you would like to be treated
And to take personal responsibility
For your own life experience naturally
Brings about and awareness that’s deeply seated
In the heart of compassion for how others live.

Every act of kindness, love, consideration,
Forgiveness, or compassion affects everyone.
There’s that which leads to truth, love, life, wholeness, and God,
And there’s that which leads to one hell of a façade.
Spiritual discernment is the solution
To the issue of ego wherein there is none.

The Power Of Not Knowing

The Bliss of Psychic Ignorance

If I say I don’t know something, say to someone
Like a boss or a bureaucrat mindless of soul,
Such a person would panic and cast me away
Fearing I lack the selfhood deserving of pay.
Knowing is the profession where I play no role
But the truthful beholder who normal folk shun.

I cannot offer honesty to everyone
For my means of survival would suffer setback.
Worldwide social insanity to the degree
That our lies and delusions are as it should be
Is something not maintainable. Huge is the lack
Of a reverent frankness in illness homespun.

Those of wisdom admit that they know not a thing
About remedies simple for complex sickness.
Their advice those of normalcy can’t comprehend
Having built their careers learning how to pretend
While ignoring the telltale effect of the stress
And Not Knowing to what else the fake self may cling.

From the place of Not Knowing, the choice can be made
To deny the mind-made self so much damned control.
Children teach with their innocence in what they ask
And how they perfect asking. They wear not a mask
In their graceful Not Knowing and having no goal
But to make sure that truth remains hard to evade.

Character Is Destiny

The Drama of Symbology

It’s a simple equation yet complex in ways
That can cause misconception and conjured up fears.
‘Character Equals Destiny’ sounds about right.
But, pray tell, what is Character? Shine me some light.
I’ve been lost in this forest for too many years.
As I watch them sneak by, they seem much more like days.

I do know well what destiny is, I do think.
It pertains to the future and how things work out.
If I live well, then good fortune may come my way.
If I don’t, then I won’t be immune to dismay.
To determine what ‘well’ means may free up some doubt
That would otherwise fulfill its job to hoodwink.

I should know what will happen if myself I know
As the sole story teller. To disarm all fear,
Am I known to be truthful in word and in deed?
People care about safety. Therein lies the need
For a code of behavior to which I adhere.
To thine own self be honest, then God’s grace will flow.
