Inviting Presence And Building Good Karma

Keeping the Inner House Clean

The word ‘Karma’ means common sense to those who know
That we can live in harmony. It’s still a dream
From the fossilized hippie days when love and peace
Were appropriate discourse. The need to release
Ancient patterns that fill the mind to the extreme
With executive drama most clearly we show.

I find waiting a challenge. I can get upset
Due to ingrained impatience, origin unknown,
Yet somewhere in my past. There’s but one thing to do –
Concentrate on my breathing and take in the view.
Otherwise my discomfort will become full blown.
Reacting only causes me harm and regret.

That which had been annoying is a lucky break
From the baggage of karma I’ve carried for years.
All that I care to notice, as presence I find,
Is a blissful observance detached from the mind.
As my power of presence grows, gone are my fears
Of certain situations. I’ll just be awake!

People become reactive to worldwide events.
In so doing, more karma then accumulates
And continues the cycles of drama and fear.
Is the practice of presence something to hold dear?
Can one world be receptive to changing our fates
By erasing bad karma? I think it makes sense.

The World As It Is

Status Quo At Its Quota

Everything could be peachy. The world may be fine.
Is the turmoil and strife just an ugly backdrop
To provide a comparison of what it’s like
In a hell cast upon us by one evil Reich?
Could it be all we need is to tell it to stop?
I’ll awake from this nightmare to brilliant sunshine.

Feelings of deep inadequacy in my heart
Pull me down from a high place. The sorrow takes hold
For a short while, then vanishes clear from the mind
But still locked in my soul not a dream I can find
To wake up from. Yet one is about to unfold
And become the reality known from the start.

Sounding like a prediction, it’s none of the kind.
It’s a keen observation that spirit imparts
To my humble existence. One cannot be wrong
With the message of truth that will make again strong
What is left of our image and our broken hearts.
What we learn here are lessons to become refined.

Unclear is how the drama will play to the crowd.
Volatile are the intricacies of free will.
Energy, though, is basic. Perception reveals
What it is that the bulk of our human race feels
About worldwide aggression and needing to kill.
I belong to a race in which I should be proud.

Harmony

Can I speak of world peace from a heart that may doubt
It could come about ever? For granted it’s true
That I must feel harmonious from deep within
Before I go crusading to cast away sin.
Even if I could do that, it belittles you
In a way that my fervor renders me devout.

Do not look up to anyone and don’t look down
On another who’s made of the same stuff I am.
Don’t put folks on a pedestal where they may fall
And do not disrespect others I feel are small.
If it’s such a tall order, is it an exam
Where I am to be noticed should I wear a frown?

I can get really pissed off and livid with rage.
Other folks also have the volition to fight
In acute preservation of identity.
Does an eye for an eye cause each other to see
That our precious illusions can never be right?
Habits formed over decades are so hard to change.

We can all live in harmony. There’s no such thing
As a global solution. All begins with me
And with each of my species. We’ve evolved thus far
Toward potential magnificence. That’s who we are.
And often I forget that. Well… Oh, golly gee.
May my emancipation help make the world sing.
