Reverence For Life

Home Hearth

How can I offer to someone else that which I
Would like to have for myself and not care about
Whether or not I get it? Life has more meaning
As I become more spiritually leaning.
If I have love to give, then there can be no doubt
That there are those who need it. I can’t wonder why.

There is a universal Field of Attention.
Some call it God and some call it Source energy.
It looks like giving with not a thing coming back.
It has nothing to do with the mindset of lack.
It is serving. It doesn’t judge. It constantly
Offers love beyond anyone’s comprehension.

Natural is sincerity and gentleness.
True compassion for others and simplicity
Are the keys to enlightenment. Who I am now
Is someone who has finally learned to allow
Higher consciousness to become a part of me.
It is God within me who I want to express.

To believe that I need what I don’t have is one
Definition of insanity. Already
I have all that I ever need right within me.
The laws of the material world I now see
Don’t define the person who I have come to be.
I cannot get it wrong because it’s never done.

Learn To Swim

You Will Survive The Move

A few words may be said about learning to swim
And the nature of water. The truth to be told
Is that no doctrine saves you from going under.
Everything that you had learned is cast asunder
When abruptly thrown in. If you try to grab hold
Of something then survival is looking quite grim.

The nature of water we must know from the start.
There’s nothing to hang on to. It is transient,
Everchanging and fluid. The whole universe
Is an aqueous substance in which we immerse.
Words, ideas, and concepts will often prevent
A healthy understanding. We then fall apart.

In the waters of modern philosophical
Confusion where God is dead and meaningless are
Metaphysical propositions, we survive
Or we drown, so in keeping consciousness alive,
Intellect is the net that we cast wide and far
To catch fish of reality. It’s logical.

In this universe there is one great energy.
We have given names to it, but none will suffice.
So to swim we must let go and give ourselves to
The enveloping substance of life. When we do
We will find that the sea of life does something nice.
It will make us buoyant and lift us to safety.

There Is No Name For It

Existence Unspeakable

In this universe there is One Great Energy
That there is not a name for. A few that are tried
Like Brahman, and the Tao have a greater meaning
Than does God because that name is often leaning
In peculiar directions. One cannot decide
For oneself what’s the nature of divinity.

One substance is existence. It’s fascinating
That anything came to exist. Much easier,
Then, it would have been had there been nothing at all.
The effort and energy needed isn’t small.
It’s an on and off system. We are, as it were,
And are not at the same time as we do our thing.

An infinity of functions it does contain
And of this elegant suchness all are a part.
Now you see it. Now you don’t. The Yang and the Yin,
Like the crest and the trough and the particle spin,
Are a principle that can be taken to heart.
In the naming of suchness there’s not much to gain.

Good will never once and for all triumph over
Evil. ‘On’ will never finally conquer ‘off.’
By indulging in the illusion we become
Disillusioned. The spirit may grow cold and numb.
Then creation becomes like a persistent cough.
The mind is a place where the nameless can’t occur.

There Is No Name For It

Conscious Nebulous Forces

All that is and that ever was has not a name.
Many have been used, but we’ve become rather bored
With defining and naming something so nameless.
All is all but one substance, and in the process
It evolves all quite seemingly of its accord.
We know too little about where everything came.

It’s an off and on universe. Now you see it.
Now you don’t. It’s the forces of the yang and yin
That define our perceptions of all taking place.
From complete utter nothingness to time and space
That which is ever nameless is where we begin
To get some understanding as it will permit.

“But what if the bad forces win out over good?”
This question comes from ignorance of energy
And its back and forth nature. We tremble in fear.
The potential of living a future austere
Amplifies the illusion of needing to be
In control of the nameless as it’s understood.

Wouldn’t it have been easier had their been not
The first cause of creation and all come to be?
Nothingness is unthinkable. Can it exist
Without something to contrast? That which does persist
Is consciousness eternal and evidently
Some people take delight in giving it much thought.

The Futility Of Force

Flowing With What Goes

It’s a strange world we live in. As part of the Tao,
And composed of relationships complex and deep,
This cosmos is abundant. Perpetual change
Is its way of expressing. It will rearrange
That which needs evolution. It loses no sleep
Over what one may think. To no one does it bow.

In the system of Huawei, nature is the guide.
Existence is totality. All is one whole.
In accordance with nature one always should act.
Force will only disturb things. It has an impact
On one’s karma in this life. It darkens the soul.
It is better to do nothing and step aside.

Don’t impose interference. The pattern of things
That exists is dynamic and always in flow.
Some may look just like conflict, but actually,
They are interdependent, and they need to be.
The survival of each, neither colleague nor foe,
Is the Tao’s only purpose. It flies without wings.

It is hard to do nothing. By force of habit,
And the mind with its ego’s most arrogant ways,
I’ll unconsciously mess with things to get results.
But the Tao doesn’t chide me with vicious insults
In the form of bad outcomes and certain malaise
If indeed I remember to take note of it.

Mindfulness

Being Ever Present

When the mind can be emptied, then full it is made
Of the loving awareness present here and now.
Mindfulness become industry is a good thing.
Educating the masses creates a wellspring
Of wisdom and kindheartedness as is the Tao.
Love is mother to presence, the real escapade.

The incorporating into daily routine
Principles of the Buddhist tradition is done
Through the myriad works of authors and masters.
Tuning into the body instantly transfers
Attention from destructive thoughts and to the one
Thing that can be controlled. It’s a gifted machine.

Loving kindness begins by my breathing it in,
Taking notice of sensations and surroundings,
Then exhaling the waste collected by the mind.
It’s an organ of value, but it’s not designed
For working in the present. Too often it brings
Misery through delusion, the ultimate sin.

Bringing loving awareness into the body
Is an easy enough process for peace of mind.
Perception without interference, judgment, or
Conceptualization can open me more
To the self undiscovered in whom I can find
All there is that I need to behave properly.
