On Religion And Science

Book In The Clouds Over Science

Is it my human nature that wants to know why
Things are happening? Out of curiosity,
I collect enough data then hypothesize.
It is through observation that I realize
The nature and structure of my reality.
I become more aware of the laws that apply.

Faith, they say, is a ‘mystery.’ They’ve got that right.
It’s one hell of a practice to praise ignorance
Of what is known and at the same time needing it
To support one’s faith. It’s to no one’s benefit
To remain in a perpetual game of chance.
Can the data give all some proof of inner sight?

Does faith need the support of the data to be
Truly faithful? The contract with data is made
That whatever is said of this reality
Doesn’t matter. Scripture is all there is to see.
If the data do matter, attention is paid
To getting one’s faith and the data to agree.

There could very well be data that would conflict
With religious philosophy. Then one has to
Go along with it. Actually what occurs
Is that data are translated as one prefers.
Some blinders are required to maintain the ‘right’ view.
They all have the propensity to contradict.

Long Lasting Happiness

Unshakable Joy

The purpose of our lives here is true happiness.
The reason is the future. We know not what will
Happen this afternoon. There is no guarantee.
Our lives are based on hope to a wholesome degree.
Even through difficult times our hope can instill
Sufficient energy for the self to progress.

If someone loses hope completely, that very
Mental attitude shortens the life, and it may
Become tragic if there’s nothing to intervene.
Happiness is our purpose. All sadness is seen
As a sorrow contingent. This isn’t to say
That we can’t benefit from it effectively.

There are two kinds of happiness: one sensory.
When we watch a good movie or eat a fine meal
Our senses are engaged, and there is enjoyment.
But it lasts just a short while. The joyful event
Was a flash of the lightbulb. Though it was for real
It cannot keep you happy indefinitely.

Long Lasting Happiness must develop on a
Mental level – not sensory. Calming the mind
That abides by its nature enables insight
To consume life and live it in utter delight.
In the present moment we ultimately find
Happiness. It’s within us. Redeem us it may.

The Kingdom Of Heaven

What Lies Within

In this world there is never an intervention.
It implies some assertion that something is wrong
And needs to be corrected by someone outside
The person with the issue who serves as a guide.
So the word ‘intervention’ does seem rather strong
For something nonexistent and wholly home spun.

There is only attraction. There’s no assertion
In this time space reality that we perceive.
We engage all the drama with strong emotion
That stirs up the momentum for getting things done.
Happiness is the one goal we want to achieve.
The times that we are purest is when having fun.

We’re here to explore contrast and from it create
Conditions for solutions to fall into place.
Coming into alignment with all that we are,
We have access to heaven which isn’t that far
From where we may be looking. We’ve no one to face
But ourselves, and it helps not to foolishly wait.

So, The Kingdom Of Heaven we know is within.
We’ve been told that by many a teacher by now.
That must mean that God resides in each one of us,
And the fact that we’re human also is a plus.
We can enter the Kingdom if we but allow
Our acceptance of our worthiness to begin.
