Some are afflicted with the disease of pleasing.
They don’t know how to say no so they will give in
To outrageous requests made of them by others.
Since by now it’s a habit it often it occurs.
They can’t change their behavior, much to their chagrin,
Of finding people most worthy of appeasing.

But intention is at the heart of creating
Authentic power. If you’ve the strength to say no
To someone then it will become easier to
Say no into the future. You’ll enter a new
Realm of being. Your sense of wellbeing will grow.
In essence you want to be self-advocating.

The disease to please is cured by your intention
To be better than you have known yourself to be.
If you don’t want to do it then don’t. It’s okay
To say no without letting guilt get in the way
Of your purpose. You are meant to live happily.
You’re not here to devote service to anyone.

Your intention will ultimately determine
The outcome. Your intention in fact is the cause
Of the wanted effect. You cannot separate
The two. Through your intention you want to create
Your dream in accordance with spiritual laws.
Right now is the perfect time for you to begin.

The Perpetual Masterpiece

There are only two reasons why you do not know
What you want. One is that you have it already.
The other is that you don’t know yourself enough
To know what you want. Your life may seem rather rough
On the edges. The fact is you can never be
In complete knowing of yourself. It’s a shadow.

It is not all that tragic a state of affairs.
The divine is never an object of its own
Fund of knowledge. Just as light can’t illuminate
Itself, nor can a knife cut itself, you create
Of yourself a self that is completely unknown
By some essence within you who cautiously cares.

To itself, it’s always an endless mystery.
“I don’t know,” as it’s uttered in the infinite
Interior of the spirit, is the relief.
The time that you have left here may be rather brief.
Wasting energy forcing things doesn’t seem right.
Letting go is the same thing as humility.

Yet, you don’t have to let go. There is nothing to
Grab on to. It’s achieved for you by the process
Of nature. Once you get this, you will suddenly
Find that you have full access to the energy
You’ve been wasting. You find self in your selflessness.
You are always creating the best part of you.

There Is No Name For It

Existence Unspeakable

In this universe there is One Great Energy
That there is not a name for. A few that are tried
Like Brahman, and the Tao have a greater meaning
Than does God because that name is often leaning
In peculiar directions. One cannot decide
For oneself what’s the nature of divinity.

One substance is existence. It’s fascinating
That anything came to exist. Much easier,
Then, it would have been had there been nothing at all.
The effort and energy needed isn’t small.
It’s an on and off system. We are, as it were,
And are not at the same time as we do our thing.

An infinity of functions it does contain
And of this elegant suchness all are a part.
Now you see it. Now you don’t. The Yang and the Yin,
Like the crest and the trough and the particle spin,
Are a principle that can be taken to heart.
In the naming of suchness there’s not much to gain.

Good will never once and for all triumph over
Evil. ‘On’ will never finally conquer ‘off.’
By indulging in the illusion we become
Disillusioned. The spirit may grow cold and numb.
Then creation becomes like a persistent cough.
The mind is a place where the nameless can’t occur.
