The Necessity Of Contrast

Am I just an automaton or am I real
To myself and all others? Alive I must be.
We are sensitive creatures. Inside human skin
Have evolved things called values. We invented sin
To make for wild adventure. No passivity
Do I have about being. I am the real deal.

So, the two sets of values – the bad and the good –
Have it out with each other continually.
If they were equally balanced the game would be
Not an interesting one. No apology
Do we get for how things are… and they are beastly
Whether or not the conundrum is understood.

Every group of nice people needs those that are mean
Otherwise they could not tell each other apart.
They must then be recognized as the enemy.
But is this kind of behavior necessary?
There are many negative engines to restart.
Let them not play a part in the drama machine.

The best situation is where the good side wins
All the time but is never in fact the winner
And where the evil forces are always losing
But are never the loser. We have everything
That we need though it is harsh on the beginner.
Going through the cycle, we atone for our sins.

No Mental Struggle

Almost no one knows really, it is sad to say,
How to love themselves because they’re running around
Attempting to find others to love them instead.
They will do what it takes – even stand on their head
To elicit the worthiness they haven’t found
In themselves. They believe it has to be this way.

You can change the way you are to please other folk.
It’s a high price to pay for a thing not of worth
In the purest sense. People are fickle and vain
And your sucking up to them will drive you insane.
The pain of pleasing others is worse than childbirth.
Only great disappointment from them you’ll evoke.

People feel the vibrations of certain others
At a subconscious level so what they can sense
Is your confounded neediness. Then they control
Your behavior and eventually your soul.
The damage to who you are is grossly immense.
You will be the victim in whatever occurs.

Do not take the biggest issue that you can find
Then attempt to work with it. Take things that are small
And become more lighthearted. Do not watch tv.
Be with people who are real and happen to be
Interested in you. You will not please them all.
Life is not all that serious when you’re aligned.

Chronic Theatre Of War

Who knows well the term war games as if in a play?
What theater of warfare and audience hears
Only words that inflame it? Passion remains blind.
Am I real or automaton, absent of mind
Yet with reason and values. The story appears
Darkly human a pastime of moral decay.

Good and evil in balance is not a good game,
But with positive forces triumphant always,
Things would get awfully boring. A more perfect one
Is where good nearly loses, but true loss is none.
By a weird fluke of nature are honor and praise
Special traits of a species that cannot know shame.

Practical is a system where the good side wins
All the time but is never the winner, perse,
And the evil side loses always but never
Is the loser. And this could go on forever.
Successful and ongoing is war fought this way
As it keeps people distracted from all their sins.

Every group of nice people needs one of assholes.
Each becomes the director of the others acts.
As each defines the other, they know who they are.
And each means of encounter must not stray too far
From the issues pertaining to whites, browns, and blacks.
May God’s mercy descend upon our troubled souls.

Go All The Way

Paradise On The Way To Heaven

If you’re going to try, then do Go All The Way.
Otherwise, do not start the path laid before you.
It could mean losing girlfriends, wives, and relatives,
Or your means of support which most rarely forgives.
You may lose your clear mind and be left without clue,
And the more that is lost, the more hell there’s to pay.

Can you Go All The Way knowing all is unknown?
With each step of the journey is uncertainty,
It could mean your not eating for three or four days,
Freezing on city park benches, prone in such ways
That attract sharp derision and harsh mockery.
It may challenge your spirit and hurt to the bone.

It could mean doing jail time and isolation.
Aloneness is the gift. All others are a test
Of how much you can take. Do you want to do it?
You know well what the answer is. You cannot quit!
You will do what you must and be fettered and blessed
And despite the rejection, there’s work to be done.

Better than anything else you could imagine
It will be if indeed you are going to try.
Don’t be half assed about it. Do Go All The Way.
There’s no other feeling like a part in the play
Where you dance with the gods and flame up the night sky.
You will ride perfect laughter. New life will begin.
