Privilege

Look Of Elegance

It’s an honor to be considered one of class.
Out of eight billion people not everyone can
Be entitled and be granted immunity
From what everyone else has to go through. To be
Of a group that considers itself better than
All the others is to have one’s head up one’s ass.

What does privilege look like? The things people wear,
What they drive, where they live, how much money they make,
And a number of other things are outward signs
Of abundance. But what actually defines
Privilege is the absolute freedom to take
Full advantage of life with the utmost of care.

If a class of students is each given a ball
Then they’re told to throw the ball into a basket
At the front of the room, those who’d say it’s unfair
Are the ones at the back. Those up front, not aware
Of their essential privilege, have no regret
For the circumstance they’re in. They fret not at all.

You’re alive. Take notice of the things around you
That uplift you. You are in a class of your own
Understanding. You have the power to achieve
Anything that you want if you truly believe
In yourself. About you there is much to be known.
Be aware of your privilege in all you do.

What Shall I Do?

Suspenseful Purpose

The Suspension of Matter in relative space
Is the quaint cosmic setting in which all exists.
Microphysics and those of unspeakable size
Bend the best minds of science. Must I realize
That all that I’m a part of not only consists
Of all that I can sense in my humblest embrace?

I know not what to do and need guidance always.
Thankfully it’s available to everyone.
Love the earth, sun, and animals. Despise riches.
Give alms to everyone who asks. Treat that which is
With respect and tread gently. Do have lots of fun.
To the dense and the loony, give them their just praise.

All your income and labor, devote to others.
Do hate tyrants and argue not concerning God.
Have patience and indulgence with other people.
Take your hat off to nothing, and don’t take the bull.
Go freely with the powerful, stupid, and odd…
And the mothers of families as life occurs.

Re-Examine all you’ve been taught at any school…
Or the church or from any book. That which insults
Your own soul, do dismiss it. Your flesh can’t but be
Poetry in its full richness of fluency.
Silent lines of the lips and face, living exalts.
The whole body becomes then a most gracious tool.

Educated Delusion

Degredation Of Sheepskin

Socioeconomic conditions prevail
That are nowhere near perfect. The rich and the poor
Have a chasm between them a galaxy wide.
The world’s uneducated are lacking in pride.
If one has not a sheepskin then closed is the door
To a life of fulfillment. This is a sad tale.

Need it be this way always as always it’s been?
Social class structures are part of human nature.
We cannot get around that, although it’s been tried,
But with failure and bloodshed. The growing divide
Among people in this way does not have a cure
Short of total collapse and then starting again.

Working class pawns are uniformed in suit and tie.
The neck must be encircled to show ownership
Of one’s time and behavior for indentured pay.
Do I like doing what I must do everyday
To maintain my existence? I’ll button my lip
To avoid condescension and stick with a lie.

Educational systems are pawn factories.
In assembly line fashion, workers are produced.
When curricula match students’ abilities
And their natural aptitudes, then with much ease
They’ll absorb like sponges and boredom is reduced.
Educated Delusion is not expertise.

Exam Fear

Examination Anxiety

I’m somewhat unprepared, therefore, I appear scared.
Had I known that my whole life would be an exam,
I would not have entered into such a contract
Such that fear overcomes me with stunning impact.
My life I feel as study. In earnest I cram
For the uncertain moment. Why can’t I be spared?

Flight instructors will turn off the engine in flight
Unbeknownst to the student. One must be prepared
To notice when there’s danger and how to react.
There is tension involved. That remains a cold fact.
Life and death situations are equally shared
Among all of life’s students, whether wrong or right.

Suppose that the flight teacher notices no fear
And the student performs all the actions required.
Many teachers, in kindness, would express concern
That a fear about dying the odd one should learn.
Fear as qualification should not be desired
As the keystone of learning. That’s rather austere.

Memorize and regurgitate, then make the grade.
We promulgate deception. What is the purpose
Other than to look better compared to the rest?
It’s no trick for the mindless to pass a damned test!
When someone else’s failure leads to my smugness
What a mockery of education we’ve made!

Failure in the small story can cause some lament
For a brief moment. The qualifications of
Alertness and a willingness to fully know
What it is that excites people will make them grow.
Opportunity fits like the hand in the glove
To those free of Exam Fear who live in content.

The School System

TheMagicRealist.com

All God’s children need schooling. We’ve made it the law.
Education provides an opportunity
To bump up against people of various views,
And to find one’s own balance among favored clues.
It’s a functioning system, though arguably.
And for most, there are many conclusions to draw.

Parent, student and child can be on the same page.
It’s a matter of knowing we are all in school.
We each teach one another alignment or not
With the Source of wellbeing we may have forgot.
This, the most trusted lesson, can be the best tool
For maintaining one’s balance upon the life stage.

She may say, “Mom, I’m out of here; I’ve had enough!”
As she rampages on in her righteous disgust.
Just remind her it’s OK to quit school and go,
But wherever she goes, her contempt is in tow.
When lessons become meaningless, it’s best to trust
In one’s Source’s curriculum and better stuff.
